Convergence kicks off its 2016 series of events with the Opening Party at Village Underground, headlined by !!! chk chk chk.
Strands of punk abandon wrapped around tight coils of dance music have always been the base pair of !!! chk chk chk's DNA. This powerful double helix has and has allowed them to outlive the mid-2000s ‘indie/dance’ tag and enabled growth in their lyrical and musical songwriting from one album to the next.
Influenced by current dance music by the likes of Nina Kraviz and Moodymann, and by early 90s house, the band claim their sixth studio album, 'As If', is the closest they've got to replicating their live set on record.
The band will be performing tracks from their sixth studio album 'As If' and some old live favourites, as part of Convergence's Opening Party at London's Village Underground.
"It’s disco and dance music done live with a ridiculously tight rhythm section topped off with FX and a squall of funky noise…yet again, that !!! know how to bring the funk." London On The Inside
Support comes from Iranian-born, London-based electronic musician Ash Koosha. Koosha sees colours as sound, a virtual reality pioneer, a software humanist, a political cause celebre, a former rock musician and student of Persian classical music, there are as many facets to him as there is texture in his fractal, complex, remarkable music. He'll bring his A/V show to Village Underground - something not to be missed.
Istanbul native Ah! Kosmos is marking herself out as a bold, experimental presence as both producer and and instrumentalist. Her first album Bastards was released on Denovali Records 2015 to great critical response and her live shows continue to rock around Europe with her multi textured, musical and visually rich style.
